Dear Community members,
Hello. I am new at this forums, so maybe you can give some advice. I need to create an excel database with the following syncronous measurements:
- T1, T2, T3, T4, Tamb (Five temperature inputs or two DeltaT + Tamb)
- m1, m2 (Two mass flow inputs, to calculate enthalpy from the two DeltaT)
- P1 (Electric power input of a mechanical device)
- Is it possible to get all this data using the Open monitor?
- If yes, which hardware and software could be necessary?
The sampling time and precise synchronization would not be so important. After achieving this project, I would like to develop a general control system for heat transfer, based on this setup.
Please, excuse my ignorance but I would really appreciate some advice about the system capabilities before investing hundreds of dollars on it.
Thank you very much in advance.
Re: Measuring two enthalpy and one temperature values syncronously
I'm afraid that question is a little like "how long is a piece of string?". Without knowing how you intend to measure the quantities, it is very hard to know where to begin. I suggest you browse the site and get an idea of what can be measured with the OEM kit, then see how that fits in with what you have and what instrumentation you might be able to add. On the face of it, all those measurements might be possible, but so much depends on the details.
In terms of output, I cannot recollect anyone writing the data into a spreadsheet, normally all the data ends up in emonCMS, which uses a variety of MySQL-type databases to store the data. Again, much depends on where your database is hosted.
Re: Measuring two enthalpy and one temperature values syncronously
Hi Robert. Thanks for your opinion.
The format of the output data is not a relevant issue. I am focused on multiple temperature measurements.
I have surfed quite enough before asking here, so I would ask this otherwise:
Does anybody recall any example of projects which collected data from...
1. 4 -5 temperature measurements?
or
2. any flow-meters? (Optional)
Based on such examples, I would gladly be able to select the suitable hardware for the project.
Thank you.
Re: Measuring two enthalpy and one temperature values syncronously
Emoncms can easily accommodate that number of inputs.
I have 16 inputs coming from different sources, which are processed into feeds, and logged.
But as Robert has expressed above, you need to be more precise about your project... you are not providing us with enough information in technical terms to be able to advise you.
Paul

Ok. Thank you Paul. I am working on it.
Thanks!
