Hey Guys,
I have read the blogs about the backups of emoncms.org, with these types of backups it expects you to have a local installed emoncms, is there no way just backing up the emoncms.org to a flat file or to a DB with out the emoncms being locally installed ?

Re: emonCMS backup.
As a newbie to all things unix I agree that it would be great to have a simpler backup/restore option.
My situation is that I have emonCMS happily running on a RasPi but based on an SD. I am being careful to backup the data and SD card but the inevitable will happen. I therefore want to move over to the SD card/Hard drive version for a bit more resilience.
The ideal solution would be to have a simple backup and restore menu in the Dashboard allowing you to offload the data to a USB flash drive/hard drive and then to drag it back once you haev a restored emonCMS up and running.
As I understand it the current back up method needs you to run a separate instance of emonCMS but I was not sure if you would then need to point a new RasPi bundle at the backup emonCMS to restore the data.
It is quite a while since I got my hand dirty at the DOS command prompt so anything with nice big buttons would be greatly appreciated . Very happy to help out with some testing for the code gurus in the forums.
