Hi,
We have tried multiple times to install emoncms on Ubuntu 14.04 and have followed the documentation for Linux install.
There must be something really simple we are doing wrong as we continually get the following error;
The requested URL /emoncms was not found on this server.
When we browse to http://localhost we get the default apache page.
When we browse to http://localhost/emoncms we get the 404 not found page.
We have been thru the various answers within the forums and other sites without success.
Could someone point us in the right direction?

Did you find this post? EmonCMS on Ubuntu 14.04 www folder change.

Paul, thank you so much. Missed that one and will make the changes.
Hopefully other newbies like me will pick this up.
Thanks again

CaxtonQ, did this work for you? I have the same issue, but I must still be doing something stupid because this did not work for me either.
Re: The requested URL /emoncms was not found on this server.
Hi
The change is due to the apache version coming with ubuntu 14.04. As mentioned here, the root directory has been modified in Apache for security reasons. This should taken into account in Emoncms installation guide.
Another workaround here.

Re: The requested URL /emoncms was not found on this server.
Hi Westerner, Yes this has worked, so thanks to Paul for his guidance.
i followed all the instructions, just changed the 'git emoncms' install to var/www/html/emoncms. I had problems with two commands and that was because I was not in the correct directory to run the command. Not sure if any other changes will need to be made as emoncms is in a new directory. Had to direct my browser to localhost/emoncms otherwise the Apache default page displayed. It's great to find something new to do!
Have the install instructions been updated?
EmonPi arrived yesterday so thanks to the UK Team for that. It is now installed, up and running. Just have to change the plug adaptors from UK to NZ and sort out why the Apps-My Solar graphs are not updating in the display. Solar panels arrive in 10 days. Yippee!
Re: The requested URL /emoncms was not found on this server.
I too followed the install guide and got tripped up by the default www folder being var/www/html/. I got lucky and copied the emoncms folder from var/www/ into var/www/html/ and the emoncms default login page now comes up using X.X.X.X/emoncms.
