Hi
I installed EmonCMS on a virtual machine running Ubuntu 14.04 Server LTS 64 bits. Following this procedure, it makes me install Apache 2.4.7. On this apache version the root directory is /var/www/html and not /var/www. So, the url http://<my_IP>/emoncms was unknown.
I fixed the problem by modifying the root directory from /var/www/html to /var/www as explained in this post. Note that the root directory has been modified in Apache for security reasons.
I guess that moving emoncms to /var/www/html will have a lot of implications (in emonhub ? in the emoncms config files ? in the usefull scripts ? ) but it may necessary.

Re: Installing EmonCMS on Linux - issue with Apache 2.4.7 ?
That's the practice of the web host (Easily.co.uk) that I use for several websites. E.g. the public root directory is "website", but my access via FTP takes me in one level above that, and in parallel with "website", I can see and have access to "Logs", "sessions" and "stats" also, all of which are invisible to the public accessing the website.
