de-stratification pump, what do I need & where do I get it

Hi, just installing Robins Mk2 and would like to heat all of the water in my HW cylinder

Longer Stat or de-stratification pump.

I like the pump idea so I can control when it is on, I assuming it does not need to be of any size, so what have you all been using?

Regards Dave

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have search through various threads before posting but cant find a link or reference to a particular type of pump.

Have seen this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5M-16-4FT-Head-24V-100-C-Hot-Water-Solar-Circulation-Pump-Food-Grade-Silent-TE92-/171552161740?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27f14e3fcc

But have also read that the pump needs to be made of Bronze, which are expensive.

So wondered what type of pump people have used?

Regards, Dave

That was the only comment I recalled that had anything specific about a pump. I don't see why it needs to be bronze, as long as it's suitable for potable water and the temperature.

Chaps,

Here is the pump I use. My 2 mates also destratify and use the same.

It is:

1 Effective. I was amased it did the job so well. 170 litres is a lot of water.  I use it at 12V but run it using PWM at 150/255 so around 7V DC. I destrattifies to a temp difference top to bottom of 12C in about 10 mins

2 Cheap and getting cheaper. There are many suppliers and various forms, but the motor and internals appear the same

3  Proven after 2 years running

4  Quiet

BUT it is plastic, a hard plastic, but plastic nonetheless. I did know the name of it begings with "F" but forgotten now. So I worry about it fracturing and then the return-from-holiday-flood. If it had a stainless steel or bronze / brass body it would be perfect. Cars now use 12V DC external pumps for engine cooling so these would be better, but £more and likely far too powerfull for this job
