Emonhub Raspberry Pi setup problems

I'm not so familar with linux and with openenerymontior.

I want to run a rasperry Pi as emonhub on the rock solid debian OS. So far the OS is installed and it is running.

Unfortunaltey I can't install the emonhub software on the rasperry with the command
git clone https://github.com/emonhub/dev-emonhub.git ~/dev-emonhub && ~/dev-emonhub/install

The command line interface says that this site can't be found. Please can you help? 

Is there any step by step guide?

It looks like your raspberry has no access to internet or so.

Can you ping github.com from raspberry ?
