a bit progress.... it had accepted my username change but when i changed it said the name was taken...

so now in again...

Have you looked into 'emonhub.conf' already?

nope... i'm still in the past where emoncms was very basic...

did give it a look.... but what setting there brings up the RFM12 option in emoncms?

I am not using the RFM12, but I think you can set all options (COM-Port, band, group, ID) in emonhub.conf.

i follow this and almost at buttom it shows the RFM12 section...

Sorry, I thought you were talking abut the 'low write' image (emonSD-13-08-14.img). And there all the settings are done in emonhub.conf already.

so i just add my nodes there too and they should show up as inputs?

Yes. Something like that worked for me.

EDIT: you normally do not have to 'add' any nodes there because all data coming in from the RFM12Pi board contains the node information already and the inputs appear automatically.

But I had to find out the hard way that there are two different installation guides. If you follow the guide here:

the system will not autostart and some other things will not work, too.

We started to discuss this in another thread, but somebody just deleted this part ..... (without moving it into another thread)!?!

well the led on the RFM12 module is blinkin so the data is getting that far...

but no new inputs in emoncms yet

Did you set the write api key correctly?

Not sure if this is needed for showing the inputs!?!

i thought the api was only if i wanted to send to the real emoncms? i want to store local and make the dashboard local..

anyways trying with the api from the local emoncms and inserting it in to emonhub.conf

I think it is for the data base. Did you try to set it?

but yes took the api key from emoncms interface and inserted it in the .conf ... still no nodes 

Did you reboot? Not sure when the emonhub.conf is read. Possibly only on startup?

yep rebooted.... 

To make the confusion complete, in my setup there are two files 'emonhub.conf'. One is under .../emonhub/conf/ and the other one under /boot. The one under /boot is the right one to modify (in my case!).
