Firstly a big thank you to all involved with OpenEnergyMonitor. The world would be a better place if more people collaborated like this! The OpenEnergyMonitor project has given me great inspiration to monitor my home and build electronic project in general.
I'm pretty happy with what I've built so far, hence the reason for this post. It's a very modest beginning, but I think it's cool and even useful!
It's an Arduino Uno with RFM12B and RGB LED, receiving data from an EmonTxV3. Woo hoo!
The LED indicates Green if exporting power, Red if importing, Blue if equal. The LED flashes at a rate proportional to the import/export rate. So what you say? Well, from a distance you can tell if the house is importing or exporting and at what rate.
Cool piece of 'modern art to have sitting on the kitchen shelf' I tell the wife :)
Ethernet module turned up today, so next up will be posting data to Emoncms. This project recently convinced me Raspberry Pi is the way to go so I ordered one today.
Informative RGB status LED
