I built my emontx from the kit using the great instructions on the site. the voltage check worked prior to installing the chip.
i loaded the ide and drivers as recommended for windows 7. The ide says the adruino is on com 2 but I'm not convinced it is seeing it really. I'm able to compile and upload the blink sketch example but get a message about no synch.
The led is lifeless which i think might be as expected .
Any ideas how to bring it to life or confirm its ok?
Re: emontx no signs of life! - RESOLVED
Try this:In the Arduino application menu Tools/Board select "Arduino Duemilanove or Nano w/ ATmega328"and upload again.Re: emontx no signs of life! - RESOLVED
Just tried that ...got the same response though. - Dave
Re: emontx no signs of life! - RESOLVED
Do you have any other arduino type boards that you could test uploading too, just to rule out the possibility that its a driver IDE issue?
Re: emontx no signs of life! - RESOLVED
You need to select UNO under tools>board to upload to emonTx, Duemianove won't work. To work out what COM port the FTDI cable is connected to try disconnecting the USB from your computer looking at the board list under tools>serial port then re-connecting it and observing what new COM port appears under tools>serial port. Or alternatively try uploading to each com port in turn!
