For those that don't know about it, edx offers free on-line courses on a wide range of subjects. uqx is my old Uni's contribution to edx and I just noticed they're offering a course later this year on measurement and control that could be very useful to many participants here:

UPDATE: course starts Oct 8th and enrollment will be open in the next 2 weeks via the edX site.
Re: Upcoming EDX course on measurement and control
About a month to go before this free online course starts. I think I can see some Arduinos in those lab sessions:

Re: Upcoming EDX course on measurement and control
thanks for posting. UQ Mech my old school :)
Re: Upcoming EDX course on measurement and control
Does one have to join the course at the time it is running? That's half past midnight UK time.
Re: Upcoming EDX course on measurement and control
Nah, edx courses are set up for world wide audiences so you should be fine. Once each week's course material is up, it's up forever. The only things that may be time sensitive are assignment deadlines but they're usually at least a week away, so +/- 10 hours shouldn't restrict you too much. If you just want to "audit" the course (the only free option in this case) then you can even start it months later. You still get to do the assignments, but there's no concept of handing them in.
Re: Upcoming EDX course on measurement and control
OK, cool. I signed up as an auditing member.
Re: Upcoming EDX course on measurement and control
If you don't have them in your parts bin already, remember to get a few op-amps and miscellaneous components for the lab exercises. There's a list here:

Re: Upcoming EDX course on measurement and control
And as of today, they've canceled the course for good. Not one of edx's finest moments. Apologies for ever mentioning it.
