Hi All,
I'm currently designing a system which will monitor the energy used by certain appliances in various zones in a building.
One of the requirements is that we monitor for instance how much energy all the heaters or all the lights are using in a specific zone. Since our heaters in one zone are on different circuits is it possible to use one CT around maybe 2 or 3 cables? The circuits are all on one phase.
I have estimated that a number of emonTx's would need to be used to cover all the zones, so i am wondering if multiple emonTx's can be connected to one emonBase?
Hope this all makes sense!
(It is currently midnight in my time zone and will be awake tomorrow)
Thanks,
Shervin
Re: Multiple Circuits one CT and multiple emonTx to one emonBase?
Hi Shervin,
Yes you would be able to put at CT clamp round multuiple cables (as long as they will fit), the CT would then read the sum of the currents. The cables would have to be individual live or neutral (not both).
Yes it's possible to have mutliple emonTx's one one network. Just set them to be on the same network grouop with different nodeID's. The base station would have to be programmed to look for the nodeID of the Tx included in the wireless packets and sperate the data out accordingly. There is an example of doing this in the lastest NanoeRF emonBase code on Github.
