My RaspberryPi and HDD combo has been running for around 3 weeks now without problem. However today I found I couldn't ssh into the system and just the pwr LED was illuminated on the RPi. I also submit data to the online emoncms.org site and it looks like it stopped recording around midday yesterday. I am not very Linux literate yet, but luckily my son is fairly good. We have rewritten the image to the SD card, but that hasn't helped. The RPi has been tested ok with a general Linux distribution SD card. So that leaves the HDD. If I rewrite the image to the HDD then I will loose all the data I have collected. Is there a way to backup what has been saved so I can rewrite/format the HDD again and then restore the data so I can continue where I left off.

Re: Raspberry Pi emoncms system crashed
When you say you have "rewritten the image to the SD card, but that hasn't helped. The RPi has been tested ok with a general Linux distribution SD card."
I'm guessing the general Linux distribution card was on a different SD card?
If so theres a chance that the problem is the SD Card.
You can test that by mounting the Harddisk with the general Linux distribution SD card.
If you have been writing the data to EMoncms.org you shouldn't lose a thing. You can sync the data between emoncms.org and your local system when its up and running.

If you do go down the route or reformatting your Harddisk, I would suggest doing some disk checks first to make sure your harddisk is OK, before continuing.
Re: Raspberry Pi emoncms system crashed
It was the SD card!! Thank's for the suggestion. Very odd as I wrote the image using a Mac in a terminal window and there was no error messages indicating a failure.
Not that I need it now, but I don't get the Sync Feeds button on my version of Emoncms. I thought I had the latest version as it was only installed about three weeks ago. Or is it an extra module I need to install?
Re: Raspberry Pi emoncms system crashed
It's an extra module you'd need to install from the link above.
9 times out of 10 its the SD card ;-)
