Been reading on this site, looks very interesting, but for me the information is all a bit overwhelming.
I've got a complete home automation running on my Pi. Heating, lights and door sensors are all controllable using a FHEM (fhem.de) frontend.
So I got a Pi, I got a wireless 868mhz reciever. And I'd like to start to monitor my energy usage. I've got one of those old engery meters with a spinning disk...
What hardware do I need, and how do I add it to my existing system....
Thanks!
Re: I've got a complete home automation using FHEM, I want to add energy monitoring...
For the hardware for a basic system, you need:
1 x emonTx kit 868MHz
1 x 100A max clip on CT
1 x FTDI programmer
1 x Mini-USB power cable
1 x USB power supply plug-in adapter
If you want a local display instead of, or as well as, your Pi, add
1 x emonGLCD kit 868Mhz
1 x Mini-USB power cable
1 x USB power supply plug-in adapter
You will need to modify the scripts in your Pi to receive the data and display it, or you can probably load emonCMS and run your Pi as a local web database server. (I am no Pi expert so how hard that will be and whether the Pi can support the workload, I do not know.)
