Hi - wondering if anyone can help
I'm installing a box in my garage that has a metal base plate and I intend put in it two emonTX and an emonGLCD
One of the emonTX will be diverting power to my immersion and the other monitoring PV and House use.
I am having problems finding suitable mounting posts for the emonTX as the holes are small at 2.1mm
Does anyone know where I can source these or have an alternative way of securely mounting them?
Ian
Re: emonTX mounting posts
I used 2 mm nylon bolts and 3 mm spacers. Don't be tempted to open out the hole and use 3 mm bolts, the components are too close to the hole get a 3mm nut on.
Re: emonTX mounting posts
If you carefully open out the holes towards the edge of the board using a needle file, you should be OK. With component leads close by, nylon mountings are a good idea. I find that a 3mm threaded spacer is easier to use than a nut.
Re: emonTX mounting posts
I decided that I would not risk filing or drilling and continued my search for suitable post.
It would seem that no one sells anything less than M2.5 posts
China and eBay to the rescue I bought one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150795866771?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
They are well manufactured, delivery was fast and fit the emonTX perfectly
