I'm asking because I would like to make some integration with my upcoming project.

The modular version is the newest version, but it currently isn't feature complete.
f you are starting a new project I would suggest looking at the modular version.
If you tell us more about your upcoming project we might be able to give you more advice

Thank you for so fast answer!
I would like to use emoncms as middle-tier part from which collected data will be submitted to other collecting service(s) and probably communication back.

Not sure why it posted twice! If you are using emoncms as a middle-tier, provided you code your inputs and outputs using Json or the csv format, I can't see it would make much difference. If there are any modifications it should just be to a path.
