Hi, I just started building the energy meter and wanted to know if I can use the CR 9580-20 CT instead of the SCT013? I am linking the data sheet of the CT below. The CT provides 0-5V DC for upto 20Amps input.

Re: Can I use CR9580-20 (CT) as alternative for SCT013?
The SCT-013 provides an AC signal which is sampled rapidly by the processor, around 50 times per mains cycle.
Your alternative device which provides a DC output would not be suitable for the standard Open Energy Monitor applications.

Thank you for the answer. I knew this CT was not going to work. Just wanted to know if anyone tried using it. It was lying around in the lab so I thought I could give it a try.
Re: Can I use CR9580-20 (CT) as alternative for SCT013?
You could use it - if you rewrite the library and are content with a guessed value of apparent power that does not correctly evaluate the rms value of a non-sinusoidal current waveform, instead of the correctly calculated real power that you'll get with a proper current transformer.

I will place an order for the SCT 013 and work with that as I will need the exact apparent power values. Thank you for the help!
