Hello,
I got an EmonTX and 3 SCT013 in order to measure my home's three-phase power consumption.
As luck would have it, geometry prevents me from inserting all three CTs around the cables - only two fit.
Are there any known smaller alternatives to the SCT013?
I don't mind soldering jack connectors if needed.
Thanks in advance!
Jeremy
Re: SCT013 smaller alternatives?
Must you have split-core CTs, or are you able (and legal) to disconnect and install ring-core? And what is your maximum current (on the worst phase)?
Re: SCT013 smaller alternatives?
I can't disconnect without cutting power to the whole building, so I probably need split-core.
Maximum current is 40A (that's when the fuse pops).
Re: SCT013 smaller alternatives?
The only other ones that I know will work with the emonTx are from Wattcore and Magnelab, and both their smallest are more or less the same size as the YHDC. It would be worth checking the dimensions however, as they are smaller one way and larger the other(s). With either, you might need to make changes inside your emonTx. Is there any choice in where you put the CTs - for example they don't all have to be on the same side of your meter.
If either looks hopeful, check back here to see which options you need to order.
Re: SCT013 smaller alternatives?
I don't see one that would fit for sure.
I think I'll have to group two rooms on the same fuse to make room for the CTs.
I'll figure out what space I can free and look again.
Thanks for the help!
