Setting up an energy monitoring project for final year project

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up my own energy monitoring project and I'm having a problem.

I purchased and put together the following hardware (I'm new to the hardware side of things so I may be missing something here):

*Arduino Yun,

* 4 x 100CT (100A max clip-on current sensor CT),

* 1 x TXSHIELDSMT (emonTx Arduino Shield SMT)

* 1 x USB2UART Programmer - USB to Serial Uart

* 1 x AC_AC Power Supply Adapter

I soldered the required parts and connected to laptop, compiled Arduino sketch (http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/buildingblocks/arduino-sketch-current-...) and I'm getting values even after disconnecting the CT sensor. I was expecting the program to return zero values after disconnecting the sensor but this was not the case.

I'm looking for the simplest example for sensing electricity using the above hardware and displaying it on my laptop. This is part of my final year project and I would be greatfull for advise.

Many thanks,

Aga
