Hi,
Is it possible to use the emonpi add-on for the raspberry pi as a stand-alone monitoring tool?

Yes. I believe so!
That is quite a broad question though so a little more info would be needed for a more precise answer. The emonPi board has an rf module, a power socket and voltage regulator so you could use the existing emonPi sketches for a "serial connected" energy monitor or adapt a sketch to use the on-board rfm69 to perform as a 2channel emonTx. But there is no on-board link for powering from AC or Batteries so you will need 2 power adapters unless you whip out your soldering iron and make some changes.
What is your thinking behind this? do you have an unused emonPi to repurpose or is there a feature on the emonPi you seek that isn't available on a emonTx?

Sorry for the late reply. I was actually planning on making my own CMS (just for the learning experience) connected on a PC. But it seems I'll stick with the raspberry pi. Will turning off the emonhub app be sufficient if I'm planning to build my own CMS?
