Wouldn't this solve all our storage problems!? Looks like a great option to use a real SSD instead of the SD card "workaround".

Re: New option for data storage
Neat solution - would certainly improve on the hub + sata interface and all the cables.
Wonder if there's a UK supplier of similar type of solution. A quick search didn't show anything else up that was similar.

The article says they'll be available as soon as all the Kickstarter back-orders are filled. So I'd guess it's not available anywhere else, yet.
Great idea, though!

Actually you can boot from SD and then leave it alone and use an external usb disk.
My openhab sd raspie died, so asking on openhab forum one of the mantainers suggested it.

I'd say it's likely most of the users here have known about using an external USB HD for quite some time. If you search, you'll find several threads on setting up and using an HDD.
Re: New option for data storage
Is there any detailed description for NOOBS how to move the home/pi/data directory of a read only build to a external drive? I am using the read only low write build from 22 dec 2015. Is it a straightforward task or would i need some decent knowledge?
