Hardware To Buy for simple Web connected Energy monitor

Hi 
I am new to hardware and i would like to buy afew items from the store. I need to set up a web connected energy monitor that calculates both Voltage and Amps. I studied the EmonPi and EmonTx. i got confused do i need to buy both of them for the setup or just the emonPI only.
Kindly help.

Just the emonpi will work for monitoring two single phase channels or interfacing with utility meter via optical pulse counting. Emonpi can receive data from emonTx if future expansion of the system is required in the future
