cant run startx with my brand new emon base - [SOLVED]

Hi Guys,

received new Emon base today, and when booting for first time i try and enter startx to go to the gui, bet see this message instead:

No protocol specified

xinit:giving up

xinit:unable to connect to X server: resource temporarily unavailable

waiting for X server to shut down server terminated successfully (0) closing log file.

xinit:server error

xauth: error in locking authority file /root/ .Xauthority

root@emonpi :~#

Any ideas much appreciated.

Forgot to mention i also purchased to pre-loaded sd card ??

I installed the .img in a new 8G micro SD card.

I have exactly the same problem

Problem solved, at login prompt type rpi-rw, then type startx as per normal

I just found it.

I was going to tell you.

To return to a read only file system type: rpi-ro
